Last week we focused on the process of success, and discussed the relationship between your Expectations and your ability to perform up to Expectations.

Want greater success?

Work the formula: Expect More ~ Execute Better.

This week we are going to discuss a couple of other “E” words: Efficiency and Effectiveness.

Interestingly, American Heritage defines both words as somewhat interchangeable:

The power or capacity to produce a desired result; Prepared for use or action.

As you may remember from last week’s discussion, American Heritage defines Success as:

The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted; Achieving the Results expected.

Do you see the immediate connection between Efficiency, Effectiveness and Success?

Efficiency and Effectiveness is about POWER.

The POWER or capacity to produce a desired RESULT… what we call The Power of TQ!

This week, find a way to increase your personal POWER by becoming a bit more EFFICIENT and EFFECTIVE. Wouldn’t achieving your Top 3 Goals be a great deal EASIER if you were?

Wouldn’t it be possible to move your 3 biggest 2016 goals from December 31st, to say, September 21st if you were better ORGANIZED?

My 3 Biggest Goals:

1) ____________________________
2) ____________________________
3) ____________________________

Time Horizon: Fall 2017

What will you DO to become more Efficient, Effective and Successful?

How about becoming better ORGANIZED?

Yes, right NOW… not Someday when you get “round to it”!

Consider DOING TQ Factor 8A more frequently. Why?

Because every activity contains a series of steps that must be completed correctly to be successful.

Systemize your success. Identify the critical steps required to complete your most productive and rewarding activities.

Then, create a “well-oiled machine” to automatically crank out results for you.

Systemize those steps through technology, checklists, delegation or by enrolling additional team members—and you will achieve the results you expect—far more often.

Automate this Factor and you’ll double, triple or even quadruple your productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.

Put simply, you will achieve your GOALS SOONER, rather than LATER.

The following Ideas for Action from our Organize Personal Workshop represent some of the best thinking on the planet about getting SPECIFIC about your goals. Each is designed to inspire and motivate you to actually do TQ Factor 8A a great deal more frequently.

Keep in mind, however, that they will remain ideas until you put them into action. Stop and listen to the audio track for TQ Factor 8A while you’re reading the rest of this page, and while you’re completing the exercise below.

This is just one track from our fabulous SET GOALS Personal Workshop. If you don’t own the complete collection, maybe it’s high time to get with the program!

“Don’t tell me how hard you work. Tell me how much you get done.” ~ James Ling

Factor 8A CONTRIBUTION to your performance…

A high commitment to this Factor of your performance suggests your systems have made you a highly productive “results generator.”

You are more productive than most, simply because you have invested the time and resources necessary to build systems to optimize your high-payoff activities.

Your secret is to create systems that utilize the best tools and technology—systems that bring out the best in you—and everyone on your team.

Factor 8A COST to your success…

A lack of commitment to this area of your performance suggests you’ve never quite figured out how to systemize success and put it on autopilot.

If questioned, you could probably list the activities that produce your greatest rewards.

But lacking the systems to properly support you, you don’t get to do them as often—or as well—as you’d like.

Consequently, you work hard to overcome your inherent lack of “system smarts,” and erroneously confuse personal effort with optimum results.

Factor BENEFIT…

What happens when you consistently do Factor 8A?

You have more power.

You hit more home runs because you get to bat more often. You accumulate performance positives like “Systematic, Streamlined, and Automated”—immediately moving you towards the results you expect.

What happens when you FAIL to consistently do Factor 8A? You have less power.

You hardly ever score, because you rarely get up to the plate. Negatives like “Chaotic, Struggling and Hindered” start to take their toll on your performance—quickly moving you away from the success you want.

The Bottom Line…

It is one thing to TALK about being Efficient and Effective.

It is quite another to actually BE Efficient and Effective.

If you haven’t already, right now is the perfect time to take a baseline assessment of your EXPECTATIONS and your POWER to achieve them.

I urge you to take the full 100 question TQ Test to baseline where you are now… and what you will need to do differently to achieve your goals this year. — E.R. Haas, CEO
