In Search of Honor…

| October 21, 2018

“The battle of life is, in most cases, fought uphill; and to win it without a struggle is perhaps to win it without honor. If there were no difficulties there would be no success; if there were nothing to struggle for, there would be nothing to be achieved.” ~ Samuel Smiles

What does the word HONOR mean to you?

On Sale Now…

Most people think of honor in the same light as respect.

But for most of us, the word has a much deeper meaning, especially if you served in the military.

Take a couple of minutes to focus your attention on the above video.

THINK about the word in context to the ever-changing story of your life.

Now, let’s scan the big words that drive our performance… personality… ethics… and morals.

So we are all on the same page, here is how my Mac Dictionary defines the word and the nuances behind it.

1 a man of honor: integrity, honesty, uprightness, ethics, morals, morality, principles, high principles, righteousness, high-mindedness; virtue, goodness, decency, probity, character, good character, scrupulousness, worth, fairness, justness, trustworthiness, reliability, dependability. ANTONYMS unscrupulousness, dishonor.

2 a mark of honor: distinction, recognition, privilege, glory, kudos, cachet, prestige, merit, credit; importance, illustriousness, notability; respect, esteem, approbation. ANTONYMS disgrace.

3 our honor is at stake: reputation, name, good name, good credit, character, esteem, repute, image, standing, stature, status, popularity.

4 he was welcomed with honor: acclaim, acclamation, applause, accolades, adoration, tributes, compliments, salutes, bouquets; homage, praise, veneration, glory, reverence, adulation, exaltation; dated laud. ANTONYMS contempt.

5 she had the honor of meeting the First Lady: privilege, pleasure, pride, joy; compliment, favor, distinction. ANTONYMS shame.6 military honors: accolade, award, reward, prize, decoration, distinction, medal, ribbon, star, laurel.

In the end, it doesn’t matter how you define the word.

What matters is that you are the person described above.

That you live the word.

What this world needs is more men and women of honor.

This means you!
