Leadership Thoughts…

| November 1, 2018

“I think it’s very important to have a feedback loop, where you’re constantly thinking about what you’ve done and how you could be doing it better. I think that’s the single best piece of advice: constantly think about how you could be doing things better and questioning yourself.” — Elon Musk, founder of PayPal and Tesla

Defining Leadership…

Leadership Thoughts...

Leadership can be hard to define and it means different things to different people.

In the transformational leadership model, leaders set direction and help themselves and others to do the right thing to move forward.

To do this they create an inspiring vision, and then motivate and inspire others to reach that vision.

Leadership does not rely on one’s title, seniority, or ability to exert power. Rather, leaders emerge at any level; they cultivate a desire in those with whom they collaborate to strive toward a common goal—which can be accomplished successfully through any number of styles of leadership.

No question, leadership is a very broad subject that knows no bounds.

Take a moment to focus your thoughts on our video and you will see the dynamics of leadership unfold before you.

Leadership is not about creating followers…

It is about creating more leaders.

It’s about creating a vision, passion, and speed.

I love this little story-quote. It has been attributed to dozens of people who use it to make a really big point.

“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion, or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle, or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you better start running.”

Some would take this on the surface and just see the obvious life and death struggle we face every day.

Move fast or be eaten.

Move faster as we only get to eat what we kill.

The point: Speed matters.

Especially in our daily struggles to out-run the clock.

Getting your team to run in the RIGHT direction… now that’s leadership!

No question, to be a success at anything requires us to start running out of the gate each day.

Chase the dream with the expectation of catching it… that’s our objective.

A great leader doesn’t just focus on the obvious chase. He or she must truly believe that the hunt is worth the price paid.

The hallmark of a great leader is the ability to envision both the treasure and the trouble… and convince his people that the treasure is ultimately worth the trouble.

In the end, the advice is simple:

  1. Share your vision…
  2. Keep hope alive…
  3. Run fast and run true…
  4. Promote excellence & reject mediocrity…
  5. Repeat until you WIN!

Lead wisely!
