“Authenticity is everything! You have to wake up every day and look in the mirror, and you want to be proud of the person who’s looking back at you. And you can only do that if you’re being honest with yourself and being a person of high character. You have an opportunity every single day to write that story of your life.” ~ Aaron Rodgers

The ideas are life-changing.

The term opportunity has a very simple definition, and yet, is all-encompassing:

An exploitable set of circumstances with an uncertain outcome, requiring a commitment of resources and involving exposure to risk.

So, what we are suggesting you actually do each day is to make this a HABIT:

  1. Find something to exploit — some problem to be solved, a market that is underserved, a weakness in a competitor, the list is constantly changing and endless…
  2. Choose risk over certainty — there is simply zero opportunity if there is no risk. Lots of risk means the potential for lots of rewards and exposure to lots of loss…
  3. Determine the level of commitment required to…
  4. Overcome all the risk-born circumstances…
  5. And secure a happy ending!

Put simply, we want you to expose yourself to new ideas… new ways of assessing the unknown… and most importantly… make it a HABIT.

Remember, a habit is an automatic, instinctive, or intuitive response to your next action.

So, now that we are on the same page, here’s what the Opportunity Wikki advises…

Risk is the possibility of losing something of value. Values (such as physical health, social status, emotional well-being, or financial wealth) can be gained or lost when taking risks resulting from a given action or inaction, foreseen or unforeseen (planned or not planned).

Risk can also be defined as the intentional interaction with uncertainty.

Uncertainty is a potential, unpredictable, and uncontrollable outcome;
risk is a consequence of action taken in spite of uncertainty.

Risk perception is the subjective judgment people make about the severity and probability of a risk and may vary from person to person. Any human endeavor carries some risk, but some are much riskier than others.

People often wonder why opportunity doesn’t appear to them.

As you can see, the reason is simple:

  1. They don’t stop long enough to look at circumstances as they are and SEE if things could be better…
  2. They don’t properly assess the risk. This is because our brains are hardwired for risk avoidance, not success or happiness.
  3. They don’t overcome their fear of loss, and instead, exclaim that what appeared as an opportunity for them is really a BAD idea.

My advice is stunningly simple.

Increase your personal power so you have the confidence in yourself to accept more risk and rewards in your life.

You just need to believe that interwoven into your circumstances is inherent opportunity.

And believe that you either have what it takes now, or can grow into the person you must become to make bigger and bolder commitments.

We see this as a positive habit to be cultivated rather than just an aspirational hope…

  1. Walter Wehmann says:

The ‘Opportunity to Dream’ video became annoying with the moving cut lines for the entire production. Good content, but lost me with overuse of effects.

Thanks for your comments — I appreciate them!

We have about 500 of these “Smarter in a Minute videos”, all different — on purpose.

They were written for a crowd much younger than 50 where holding attention means fast screen movements that focus on the key elements, not the background noise.

They are not so much to be watched as to be experienced.

I did not like them at all at first — but when I focused on the message, my retention of the words increased.

Which ultimately shapes thinking towards positive actions and outcomes.

I am 73 and hard to please, but have gotten used to the presentations… not like a 25 year old “twitch kid” but close:)
